Methodology
Finding stories
Each day we scan primary and regional sources across all the regions we cover, looking at announcements from the last 24 to 72 hours. We then choose one lead story and two or three supporting developments, aiming for geographic balance across each week.
The two-source rule
A material claim is published only if it is backed by a primary source (a company post, paper, filing, regulator notice or release notes) or by two independent reputable outlets. A claim with one secondary source is labelled "reported by [outlet], not independently confirmed". A claim with no reliable source is left out.
Benchmarks and evaluations
Vendor benchmark results are attributed to the vendor ("according to [vendor]"). Where available we prefer independent evaluations such as Artificial Analysis, LMArena, Epoch AI and peer-reviewed or arXiv papers, and we say which we used.
Official statements
For China, Russia and other state-linked sources, we report what each side says using official or primary sources, and label it as such. We verify against independent or regional reporting and keep a neutral tone.
Numbers
Every figure is checked against its source before publication. Money figures carry a currency, a date and a source, and are labelled announced, reported or rumoured.
Review
A human editor reviews every article before it is published. See our Editorial Standards, AI-Use Disclosure and Corrections pages.
